Meet The Finnegan's Run Family (Staff & Instructors)

Welcome to Finnegan's Run.
We strive to provide a space that is comfortable and welcoming to all, where creativity and inspiration is welcome and encouraged, and a drive to learn is always present.  We invite you in store to meet each of us, as we would love to get to know you.  Until then, here is a brief introduction to our Finnegan's Run Family.
Cathy Mitchell - Owner
Shelly Carney - Assistant Manager
Wendy G- Come meet and visit with Wendy on Wednesday mornings and some Friday and Saturday's.  You will also find Wendy instructing classes and working our help sessions.

"My mom taught me how to knit when I was in my teens, but I never did anything with it.  Then a few years ago I decided to take the Building Blocks class at Untangled Purls.  From the very first class the knitting fever took hold of me.  I finished Building Blocks, took more classes, bought lots of yarn, visited LYS whenever I could and then ultimately started working at Untangled Purls and then Finnegan’s Run.  With knitting I am constantly learning, and it is the only thing that brings me complete calm when I pick it up.   On the personal side, Paul and I have been married 35 years and we have 3 children, John, Jessie and Don.  I also have two stepsons, Sony (Anna) and Rich (Becky) and 8 grandchildren.  Last, but not least, we have our fur-babies, Lacey and Clara."

Beverly E. - Come meet and visit with Bev on Wednesday afternoons.

"I started knitting when my youngest son was born just about 46 years ago. I made him a baby blue sweater to match his eyes. I have been knitting ever since. I started crocheting about 8 or so years ago when Anne Nourse taught me. I enjoy all kinds of needle arts, including quilting and stitching. I love  to make items for my family and friends. I am married to Norman for 47 years and we have two grown sons, five grandchildren, and two great-grandchildren. I retired after more than 30 years teaching in public school. I enjoy retirement very much because I get to spend my time on things I really enjoy, like knitting, quilting, traveling, and reading."

Jax L.  - You can meet and visit with Jax on Thursday's as well as some Friday and Saturday's.  Jax also teaches many of our classes and works our Thursday knit & crochet help sessions.

"Not just a knitter, I’m also a wife of 25 years and mom of three grown kids.  We’ve been living in Fredericksburg since the Marine Corps dropped us here in 2011.  Fiber is my first love from a very young age (I knit, crochet, and spin yarn) but honestly I'll try any craft at least once because I love learning new things.  Now that my homeschooled kids are grown and graduated, I have plenty of time for slinging yarn, teaching classes and traveling with my husband."

Kristin H – You can meet and visit with Kristin on Thursdays as well as some Sunday’s.

My name is Kristin and I am a yarn enthusiast! I've been crocheting for a little over 15 years and just recently picked up knitting. I love crocheting stuffed animals, blankets and scarves. A fun fact about me is that I am a recent graduate from University of Mary Washington. Welcome to our community of yarn lovers!”
